LED chip

LED chip is a crucial component of LED billboards. There are three main materials used for LED chips: gold wire, silver wire, and copper wire. Gold wire LED chips offer exceptional performance but are expensive; silver wire LED chips provide good performance at a lower cost than gold wire chips but higher than copper wire chips; copper wire LED chips are widely used due to their high cost-effectiveness.

In addition to material type, LED chip size also affects price. Larger LED chips require more materials, resulting in higher production costs and prices; smaller LED chips require fewer materials, leading to lower production costs and prices. This is one reason why LED billboards that appear identical can have significantly different prices.

Types

The LED modules used in LED billboards primarily come in three types: indoor LED modules, outdoor LED modules and flexible LED modules.

Indoor LED modules are primarily used in indoor environments, with an IP35 protection rating, providing waterproofing on the front side. Indoor LED modules have a brightness of 500–800 nits, enabling bright advertising effects indoors without affecting indoor lighting levels, attracting customers with their image quality, and offering a relatively affordable price.

Outdoor LED modules have an IP65 protection rating and are primarily used in outdoor environments. They exhibit exceptional adaptability and are unaffected by external factors. The brightness of LED modules used in outdoor LED billboards can reach 4,000 to 5,500 nits, enabling people to discern the displayed content even under intense sunlight. However, they are relatively expensive.

Flexible LED modules feature a strong magnetic attachment design, facilitating front maintenance and installation. These modules can be bent within a certain angle range to form non-rectangular LED billboards and are suitable for various applications. However, their price is significantly higher than the other two types.

Pixel pitch

The pixel pitch of an LED billboard refers to the distance between the centers of two adjacent LED lamp beads. The smaller the pixel pitch of an LED billboard, the more detailed the image displayed, but the more complex the manufacturing process and the higher the price. Conversely, the larger the pixel pitch of an LED billboard, the lower the price.

Refresh rate

A high refresh rate makes the image switching of LED billboards smoother, without any abnormalities such as stuttering. The higher the refresh rate of an LED billboard, the more expensive the IC chip used; the lower the refresh rate of an LED billboard, the cheaper the IC chip used.

LED Cabinet

Materials

There are three types of materials used to make LED billboard cabinets: iron, aluminum, and die-cast aluminum.

LED billboard cabinets made of iron are very durable and can protect the internal components well. The production cost of this material is the lowest, and the price is the cheapest.

LED aluminum cabinets are lightweight and thin, making it convenient for workers to transport and install LED billboards. The production cost of this material is relatively high, and the price is relatively expensive.

LED die-cast aluminum makes LED billboards beautiful and stylish, and can be customized according to customer needs. The production cost is the highest, and the price is the most expensive.

Control Cards  

The control card is composed of a separate receiver card and transmitter card, which enables the LED billboard to receive and transmit signals. Its price is higher than that of the two-in-one control card.

The two-in-one control card integrates the functions of the receiving card and the sending card, enabling the signal to be captured and transmitted by the LED billboard. It is the lowest in price.

The three-in-one control card is a component that combines the receiving card, sending card, and media playback card, enabling the LED billboard to be controlled via a Wi-Fi signal. It is the most expensive.

Power Supply Unit

In most cases, LED billboards use conventional power supplies, which can provide a stable power supply, are relatively simple to manufacture, and are relatively inexpensive. In a few cases, LED billboards require a dial power supply, which adjusts the voltage of the LED billboard according to the local voltage to ensure stable operation. These are relatively complex to manufacture and are relatively expensive.

Shape

There are two types of LED cabinet shapes: conventional LED cabinets and “L” type cabinets. Conventional LED cabinets are generally rectangular, with a simple manufacturing process and a lower price. “L” type cabinets are often used in 3D LED billboards, with a complex manufacturing process and a higher price.

Structural Design

Size

The larger the size of the LED billboard, the more LED modules, LED cabinets, and other components are required, resulting in higher production costs and a higher price.

The smaller the size of the LED billboard, the fewer LED modules, LED cabinets, and other components are required, resulting in lower production costs and a lower price.

Facade

The number of facades also determines the price of LED billboards. Single-sided LED billboards can only be seen from one direction and are the cheapest.

Double-sided LED billboards allow people to see the display content from two directions and are twice as expensive as single-sided LED billboards.

Four-sided LED billboards have a 360-degree viewing angle, allowing people to see the display content from any angle, and are much more expensive than double-sided LED billboards.

Other Designs

LED billboards can be integrated with other technologies to create two different types: 3D LED billboards and interactive LED billboards.

3D LED billboards require more complex components and a more complicated production process. In order to present a 3D effect, they require special software to produce 3D materials, which makes them much more expensive than conventional LED billboards.

Interactive LED billboards integrate interactive technology, require built-in chips, and the display of interactive content needs to be customized according to customer requirements. The production process is very complex, and the price is very high.

Packaging Costs

Flight case

Flight cases are mainly made of aluminum-magnesium alloy materials, which have good durability and airtightness. In terms of appearance, it is designed according to the trends of the times and is fashionable and beautiful. Inside, a soft sponge is arranged to prevent the LED billboard from being bumped during transportation. At the bottom, a roller device is installed to facilitate easy movement and transportation. Therefore, the price of flight cases is relatively high. If you need to customize a flight case, the price of the flight case will be added to the base price.

Wooden case

Wooden cases are mainly made of laminated wood. They also have a sponge design inside to prevent damage to LED billboards. The material and production costs are relatively low, so the price is relatively low.

Transportation Costs

Transportation Methods

When customers are not too far away, we will use land transportation to transport LED billboards. There are generally two types of land transportation: trains or express delivery vehicles. Trains are suitable for long-distance transportation and are relatively expensive, while express delivery vehicles are suitable for short-distance transportation and are relatively inexpensive.

If you are very far away from us, we will use sea or air transport to transport the LED billboard. Sea transport uses ships, which take a relatively long time, generally half a month or a month, but are cheaper than air transport. Air transport uses airplanes, which take a relatively short time, generally arriving at their destination within 7 days, but are very expensive.

Transportation Solutions

There are two transportation options for LED billboards. The first is to have the freight forwarder take care of the entire process, which is relatively fast but expensive. The second is to have the freight forwarder transport the goods to the port of destination and then contact a local express delivery company for transportation, which requires customers to pick up the goods themselves but is cheaper.

There are four types of accessories for LED billboards

Air conditioner or fan: Air conditioners have excellent heat dissipation properties and effectively reduce heat accumulation in LED billboards, but they are expensive; fans are cost-effective and are popular with many customers.

Single box or three boxes: Single boxes have low power and are inexpensive; three boxes have high power and are expensive. If the LED billboard is very large, three boxes must be added until the LED billboard operates normally. If the LED billboard is relatively small, a single box can be used.

AV equipment: LED billboards can integrate AV equipment to bring people a consistent audio-visual experience. The better the performance of the AV system, the higher the price.

Power Connector and Signal Connector: The number of connectors is determined by the LED billboard cabinet. The more connectors, the higher the price; the fewer connectors, the lower the price.

Labor Costs

In addition to the cost of accessories, labor costs must also be considered. If the customer builds an LED billboard through a local installation company, they must select a suitable installation company to build it.

Buying a 50 square meter LED billboard costs between $75,000 and $100,000.

The price to buy a 100 square meter LED billboard is between $120,000 and $150,000.

To buy a 200 square meter LED billboard costs between $200,000 and $250,000.
